Longing for Acceptance!
Elizabeth was withdrawn and quiet that afternoon, knowing Richard was speaking with his parents of his love for her. Her family loved him dearly, and were enthusiastic in their support for their marriage. How she longed for his family to give their approval, and accept her for herself, even though her family was not in the 'upper class' of society. This wait seemed interminable, and as time lengthened she became more convinced of their refusal. But just then Richard came round the corner with a smile on his face. Hope leaped in her heart. Maybe, just maybe, she was accepted after all!
