In the shadow where I stood
You took the pain away
I'd never, ever felt so good
Until you came into my way
Forgive my sorrow, I am a dark one
That's what I told you that day
You said it was fine, that you would save me
I believed you and took your hand.
That kiss in the hall meant more than you think
The love you showed, I denied fiercely
I was another's heart, so I pushed emotion away
I denied the love I'd built for you.
You left for so long, and once returned
I leapt into your arms a broken woman.
You dried my tears again and held me
And asked me to be your wife.
